Chapter Eleven
Adonis walked in the house expecting a pissed off Carmen. He hadn't been home in a minute and he was ready to get this argument over with. But when he walked in, the place was empty, no furniture, nothing. She even took the damn light bulbs. He laughed because it was quite comical that she thought he'd give a damn. It was all material things and he didn't keep anything of value there; especially his safes. He didn't even bother to look at the rest of the house. Instead, he left back out. He didn’t even notice the note that she had left.
At first, she had planned on packing her clothes and leaving. but then she found out Destiny was back in town and figured that was why he hadn’t been home. Well, let’s just say a job turned into her having feelings. She wouldn’t call it love, but she cared for Adonis. This worked out perfectly because now he could be with Des without feeling bad. He was prepared to come in and break the news to Carmen. He wanted to be there for his son but he didn’t want to be with Carmen. She had just made his decision easier.
Adonis was headed to the barbershop to get a line-up. He wanted to take Destiny and Serenity out for dinner. Since finding out that Destiny had his daughter, he wanted to do everything in his power to make them happy. When Adonis walked into the barbershop, his little brother Jontez was there.
“What up boy?” Adonis greeted.
“Ain’t shit, just came to get my hair cut. What up with you?” Jontez asked.
“Shit, about to go pick up Destiny and Serenity.”
“Oh yeah, how’s that situation going?” Jontez asked. He had yet to officially meet his niece. In fact, he hadn’t seen Destiny since that day in the mall.
“It’s going good. Serenity is me all day long, and her ass is spoiled. She got a nigga wrapped around her fingers already, man.” They laughed.
“Well, when do I get to meet my niece?” Jontez asked.
“Well, I was taking her by Granny’s house later on.”
“Cool, call me when you headed that way. I’m out.” Jontez stood to leave.
“Alright bro.” Adonis sat in the chair so Jay could cut his hair. He had a few stops to make before he headed to Destiny’s house. He also had to put somebody on Carmen. She didn’t just up and leave for nothing and he felt like she was up to something.
***
It was a little after five when Adonis got to Destiny’s house. He grabbed his cell phone and got out of the car. Just the thought of seeing his girls got him excited. He didn’t know what it was about Destiny but she had him gone. Adonis knocked on her door and anxiously waited for her to answer. He could hear Serenity running around and he smiled.
“Damn, I got a daughter,” he mumbled.
A few seconds later, Destiny opened the door looking good. Adonis admired her thick frame and licked his lips.
